Bye Bolivia

Posted on 4th March, 2012

Ahoyohy,

Im in Peru but have had a slightly unsatisfying day. To start the day my washing, already late, was presented soaking wet. I then took a wrong road (road signage not hot here) and went the wrong way round the western lake Titicaca. This was no great problem as I got to go on a barely floatworthy barge but missed the ancient city of Tiquanaco which I was peeved about:

Eventually got to the border and had 90 mins wait whilst they lunched and discovered another missing sump guard bolt but the general amzingness of cable ties saved the day. Despite all this there was always lake Titicaca, shame it was a poohy day:

On realising that making Cuzco was out of the question I looked for somewhere to camp but all was flooded, as was still raining, and no campsites so Im in the cheapest hotel I could find in Juliaca and Sir Humphrey is in a locked shopping arcade oddly enough! They have Tuktuks here and rather than sell stuff out of wheelbarrows they use converted bicycles, cool.

Well Cuzco tomorrow and Machu Pichu the day after them Lima for some well needed new tyres.

Sorry about the blog being a bit dull today but it was a bit of a dull day.

TTFN,

Tigger

P.s. Oh hold on I got an email for I guy I mert at the Argentinian-Chilean border high in the Andes and he sent me a photo. My Sir Humphrey looks clean:

Hiya Chris, wow the roads remind me so much of South West Uganda, especially the steep sides, flooded road, deep mud and potholes. The truck drivers sound just the same too. Take care out there.
Hi Tigger - the Spotmelive stopped after the first position for 6 hours -then 3 positions just at the end. I wondered why you seemed to be wandering about! Bit of off road, just for a change? Interesting pics on Google maps of the 'ferry'. George
