Passport returned

Posted on 24th February, 2012

Ahoyhoy dear reader or three,

I want to say thanks so much for all the comments that I forget to mention my appreciation for in my usual rush to update the blog - means a lot to me, cheers.

What a time but I´m smiling now. On being frustrated by my lack of prep to get the emergency travel document at British Embassy, Buenos Aires (i.e. need to have booked return flight, not sorted Sir Humphrey´s storage or even got photos) I decided to sort these all out before handing in my forms and what luck this was. I went to Dakar Motors who let me use their ´puter where, alas after paying 120quid to rebook flight, I found email from the Medoza Tourist Police that they had my keys, diary and passport. As I hadn´t submitted my documents and the police hadn´t informed anyone else the passport was still valid. There was nothing else to do but prep for a hasty return to Mendoza the next day. I did this and was shocked to discover it was only 4pm so I had a relaxing day chatting to Louise a BMWer and a fellow KTM 990 rider -  Ben, a helicopter pilot from British Columbia; great guy. To celebrate I semi-accidentally had two bottles of wine and half a pack of fags but who cares about waistlines, livers, cancer etc when Tigger´s Travels is back on the road! Stage 2 here we come.

This morning, feeling well but tired, I made the 650miles slog back to mendoza in 11hours. Still meeting great folks and sputtering along with bits of Spanish, French, English and a lot of jesticulation which is nice because it scratches all my bites with my jacket lining. Remember I told you about these amazing orange and green butterflies (well anyway I meant to)? I managed to get a photo of loads of them today, alas.

And this one showing I am growing hair horns.

Once in the city of Mendoza Emily guided me to the appropriate builing, I met the Officers from before and I was reunityed with my keys, diary and passport but alas no camera, lighter, memory cards, bag and a few odds and ends I can´t even remember. YES YES YES YES YES! Buggery bloody brilliant.

So as it turns out I have massively overspent in this first month I will start being very frugal from now, well maybe from tomorrow.

Thanks for all your support. The show will go on and I WILL be done in 100 days. Also please do spread the word about the charity ball to all your friends and family. In effect this whole journey is one massive advert to sell tickets for it.

TTFN,

Tigger
