Day 2 - more

Posted on 2nd February, 2012

Ahoyhoy friends and followers,

I cannot put into words how happy I am to be on the road with Sir Humphrey, especially as getting him through customs almost killed and bankrupted me.

I got the paperwork I needed in 10mins - you can see how happy I was below as I had singularly failed to do so the day before.

This paperwork is the original airway bill that I somehow managed to avoid paying 132 US dollars for by saying yes to a question I didn´t understand. I took this to the cargo terminal and 4 hours later Sir Humphrey looked like this:

And 2 hours after that he looked like this:

Despite massive dehydration occuring duting this frantic six and a half hours we all pulled ourselves together and pushed on to Las Flores and spoilt ourselves with another night in a hotel. Bad Tigger but I really was suffering by then. Feasted on very tasty Argentine beef & pots and 5litres of fluid and feel much better. I´ve even done some washing.

Huge beetles around here BTW but at least a bite from one of those is not going to kill me. Nasty bugs await me further north.

Other good news is that a nice Spanish biker called Fernando is on a RTW trip and is heading to Ushuaia too and having met the owner of BA´s biggest chain of bike shops (Walter Tamburrino) I now have a contact in Rio Grande, Tierra del Fuego. All in all a better day than yesterday. WE ARE ON THE ROAD!!!!!
