Waiting and waiting and drinking too much

Posted on 17th April, 2012

Ahoyhoy my friends and betters,

I hope you are all well and Blighty is still the home I remember. Oh yes I´ve been away for months and not years. I forgot but it has seemed years over the last week.

Photos from the beef dinner.

I expected a quiet night in last night in front of the TV but I got message at 9.30pm that Killy would be picking me up at 9pm. Despite the confusion, which was probably down the the fact that I had had a glass or two of go go juice, I found myself in thecompany of Killy´s friends and hot wife in a pool hall. As I´m a wierdo and don´t drink beer I ended up with a bottle of wine and we started playing. I was, fortunately, at the second peak of alcoholic pool playing and I shone much to me delight having not played in years. Pool playing ability whilst drinking has a biphasic distribution, my college reseaarch that I should have tried to publish. I taught the guys English pool rules and we had a great really great time. I did end up a little tiddly though and cannot even make out half of what I brambling wrote in my diary on returning.

In the morning, feeling better than I should have, I mooched down to Autiomoto Suzuki feeling anious about any news I would recieve about parts and Sir Humphrey but much to my delight the parts are due to arrive tomorrow at 10am so I could be on my way by tomorrow afternoon. I am, to protect myself, expecting a delay in delivery but we are another step closer to home which is all that matters. The bill alas is 1400reals. The guys at Automoto Suzuki are friendly and helpful.

As for me I hope to enjoy a little more piece of mind for the rest of the day. If all goes well I will be at Foz de Iguazu by the weekend, not the best timing, and at my temporary riding companion Jean´s just after this. Then I have only to make it to Montevideo, along the coast a bit, hop on a ferry and get back to Buenos Aires to arrange Sir Humphreý´s journey home and the trip will ball but completed. The last week has taught me that this could still be a mighty big challenge but I know we´ll get there.

As the days goes by I find myself missing everyone more and more. Yes all of you. Yes YOU too!

TTFN,

Fingers crossed Tiggilliosa

Fingers crossed (and toes too) that the parts arrive on time with no hold up, so that you can get on your way with no further delay. I must say, alcohol also has a poor effect on my pool game in that the angles I can see never actually work out when I hit the ball. However I think bravery in the type of shots taken tends to win games. Glad they are all keeping you company and looking after you. Keep your chin up, and God speed.

Fantastic job matey. 17,000 miles, more or less, is a wonderful achievement. We are all very, very proud of you and really looking forward to your return home. God speed!
Hi Tigger. Even me - we've only just met! However, having followed your daily exploits, I feel I know you quite well -" mad as a box of frogs" as Antonia would say. Hang in there. I have yet to check the route reports - maybe you're on your way already. George
Yes hurry up, I want to celebrate too!! xxx
