Liman Rubber

Posted on 10th March, 2012

Ahoyhoy,

Well good news. I have spent a lot of money but hopefully have what I need if not what I want. Barbacci motors were open after our last chat and I´ve aquired two Continental TKC 80 rears, unknown brand of front with a decent looking tred pattern, 5L of oil, chain lube and a spare front inner tube. This had cost me 500 pounds but these were the only rear tyres to fit Sir Humphrey I could find so what else could I do? At least it was a nice shop with helpful staff.

I lugged it all home and needed a shower and a rest afterwards:

I have subsequently gone out for a mooch and confirmed that I am in Miraflores, the new posher heart of Lima. It is very clean and relatively expensive looking so the guidebook got one thing right.

Alas I am swinging between feeling hot but well and really quite sick. A chicken empanada with fire sauce seems to have helped temporarily. I look forward to the day when I don´t need to assess my fuild balance each time I pee.

I think, as it would necessitate a 15km journey, I´ll have to skip Lima´s sights and focus on a bit of rest and recuperation for the slog up the Pan-American highway tomorrow and maybe a bit if guerilla beach camping (no, not a silver backed ape prancing along the sand in expensive clothes).

TTFN,

Tigger

Hi Tigger - You always need to check in the tropics. The first time I went there I had heat exhaution brought on by salt deficiency - me telling the doctor! However, it was amazing how much difference was made by upping the salt. I had a philosophy - drink only fluids that come in bottles (beer); if you must drink water, put whisky in it! Not if you're driving of course, although we didn't have drink and drive rules in those days. Better print the next 'progress map' for the office wall. Also need more orange stickers. George
