Dead then alive then dead again - Part 1

Posted on 14th April, 2012

Ahoyhoy,

How are you? Well I hope. Its all up in the air here, fortunately not literally.

I spent a lovely evening with my friend Renato and his family eating his Dad´s homemade icecream and his grandparent´s homemade cheese. Wonderful folks and girls; Renato is quite a hunk!

The next day I returned to Voar motorcycles with Renato and waited to see if Wuerker the mechanic had worked his magic. To fill the time I made Sir Humphrey pannier covers from old cardboard boxes and a rubbish bag.

Meanwhile Wuerker reassembled Sir Humphrey and I took him for a test toast. Full power all through the rev range. As best as I could tell this problem was fixed. It is a common problem here because of the rubbish fuel. Whilst we waited for the new rear tyre Wuerker noted the rear sproket looking a little worse for wear but as a group we didn´t worry about it too much.

I had met a great guy called Hugo whilst waiting around and he took me to lunch. By the time we got back the tyre still hadn´t arrived so he went and got it for me on his bike.

By now it was midafternoon so I decided to stay the night. Hugo again and his lovely wife took me for dinner at a restaurant where huge skewers of every roasted meat you can imagine are continuously brought round to your table. Oh my. I ate more in this one day than on any other two on the whole trip! They are wonderful people and I have again been so fortunate with every disaster leading to new friends.

Alas I have to log off now (being on a computer in the office of a transit authority inspector - long story)  but I´ll be back later today or tomorrow where I can tell you of your next disaster that has us stranded in Campo Grande, Brasil.

TTFN,

Tigger

Hi Tigger. What a bugger. Sam tells me you need new sprocket and chain. Not too surprising, having seen the photos of the old ones. Awaiting your next blog. George
